For safety and development reasons, all under 6 – under 14 junior activity participants must complete a proficiency evaluation prior to being able to participate in any water activity on beach days, training days, or at carnivals.

In order to participate in an evaluation children MUST have a completed registration, including payment of fees.

For 2016/17 the proficiency evaluation for:

  • U6-U7 will take place at Redhead Beach on our first beach day.
  • U8 will only do an untimed pool swim and survival float.
  • U9-U14 consists of two parts:
    • Part 1 – Timed Pool Swim – this may be signed off by a nationally registered swim coach. Have this form signed and email it to Tim Foran, our Water Superintendent at timforan@myfeet.net.au or hand it in on our first beach day.
    • Part 2 – Ocean Swim
    • NOTE: Both parts must be completed to be deemed proficient. Mandatory proficiency requirements for all ages are detailed in the table below. Children who are unable to pass the proficiency are limited to beach and wading activities only, and cannot enter carnivals.

If intending to participate in carnivals the proficiency evaluation must be completed prior to their first carnival (even if only planning to do sand events).

Redhead JAC will conduct 2 proficiency evaluation days and both the pool and beach proficiencies must be completed by the second evaluation for children to be allowed to continue participating in water activities. No additional evaluations will be held.
